Daniel Chadwick is a British artist, (b. 1965) whose work is an art of balance both literally and metaphorically. His principal works are mobiles made up of kinetic solar systems that revolve in complicated balance and whose numerous orbits glide gracefully in communicative accord with themselves.
Chadwick was a member at The Colony Room Club, which was a private members' drinking club at 41 Dean Street, Soho, London. It was founded and presided over by Muriel Belcher from its inception in 1948 until her death in 1979. The artist Francis Bacon was a founder and lifelong member, and the club attracted a mixture of Soho's low-lifes and its alcoholic, artistic elite, including George Melly, Jeffrey Bernard and Lucian Freud. Ian Board was the second proprietor of the club after the passing of Muriel Belcher.
