Sara Ödman spent a childhood surrounded by the prairies and seascapes of South Sweden before moving to Paris to pursue a career as an artist. Despite this move, her work is testament to the child within, whose wanderlust for nature lives in each and every of her compositions. Her paintings, which she refers to as ‘abstractions’ are almost exclusively created with acrylics on cotton and linen canvas. Starting with sketches, she composes different shapes and colours until she settles on one that catches her attention. She says: 'To create is an infinite part of me and has always been, I’ve loved to illustrate since I can remember. The empty paper inspires me, I always get my energy flowing just by the thought of colouring that white space. My father painted a lot when I was younger, colourful pieces, full of energy.’

Ödman’s design has crossed different disciplines such as window display design, brand identity and packaging design within luxury and prêt-à-porter. When working in Beijing, she had her first encounter with textile and print design, which p[rocked a passion that has continuously inspired to develop. This work is a testament to this passion, as well as Ödman’s relationship with colour and form. Inherent in its composition is the subliminal nod to Sweden’s nature, the colours refracted of the ocean and the gentle flat shapes of its landscape.
