Turner Prize winning artist Grayson Perry here created a 100% silk scarf exclusively for Tate as an homage to the institutional pedigree of the museum. Taking Tate Modern’s iconic building as its starting point, Perry takes us on a tour through the history of modern art.
Taking inspiration from the Second World War when war pilots were given maps printed on silk to help them escape if there shot down over enemy territory, Perry here inverts this idea to make it applicable to contemporary artists. He says: 'This scarf is a social and cultural map to help aspiring artists navigate the hostile territory on their way to being accepted by the establishment. Many famous artists who can help them live along the route'
